Growing chances for UDT’s gTLD application. „.today" trademark registration granted in the EU.
In the summer 2010 and spring 2011 UDT successfully tested its new mash technology with a semi-closed Beta version in a European tourist destination. Looking at the results and responses it immediately realized the strength of the .today concept as such. „Its all-encompassing, It is a winner".
When in summer 2011 ICANN announced the opening up of a new gTLD opportunity, all pieces of the puzzle fell in place. The company knew it was on the right track and filed for EU wide trademark protection already a few months before.„We could not sit by idle, and wait for the opportunity to fly by! We had to do something to protect our concept and increase our chances and opportunities; we worked on this for years! So on May 3, 2011, we filed our claim with the European Trademark Registration Office.
Its trademark registration for class 42 and 45 is linked to the company’s real activities.
- Class 42 covers - Scientific and technological services and research and design relating thereto; Industrial analysis and research services; Design and development of computer hardware and software.
- Class 45 covers- Legal services; security services for the protection of property and individuals; personal and social services rendered by others to meet the needs of individuals; Domain name services, namely creation and maintenance of a register of domain names; registration of domain names; policy development related to domain name registration and maintenance; administration, registration, assignment and management of domain names; provision of information and data related to domain name registrations; advisory, information and consulting services relating to the aforementioned services; domain name registration for online magazine systems
Following legal and trade mark advice from Sophia Kacsuk from Kacsuk Patent and Trademark Office in Budapest, on September 27. 2011, Ultimate Digital Technologies LLC received, its „.today" trademark registration certificate from the European Trademark registration authorities, OHIM (Registration number: 009935362).
